God has been speaking to His Church through recent events and the question is: “Are we listening?” As the herald of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Church has not represented the Kingdom of God well in this world system. Our ears are deaf to the voice of God and our commitment to Him is lukewarm, at best.
God is using the elements—wind, rain, and fire—to wake up His Church in America because we have fallen asleep. The Church has been fairly quiet about the Opioid crisis and has not condemned racism or spoken out against the division and violence that permeates this country, as witnessed in Charlottesville, Virginia in August. While a few voices have spoken up to repent on behalf of the country, overall the American Church has been silent.
Thankfully, some local churches are stepping up to help hurricane victims in the Caribbean Islands, Texas and Florida, where the harsh winds, hard rains and epic flooding destroyed church buildings, houses and other structures. Additionally, calls for prayer have come for the wildfires to come under control in parts of Oregon and California, and for Mexico after a magnitude 8.2 earthquake hit on September 8.
God is raising up new voices that are starting to be heard. These people not afraid to speak judgment over the Church for forsaking the ways of God—as spelled out in The Holy Bible—and creating its own way to worship while enjoying this world system.
