United in Christ Ministries of Canton issues a call to all Believers in Jesus Christ to pray that the United States of America will withstand the shaking that is going on across the land at this moment.
To say that this country is in crisis is an understatement. News reports on any given day show suffering, hurt, anger, violence and even murder—seemingly without any consequences. We have truly become the Divided States of America! Yet, our country is still one nation under God who loves us and will do whatever He deems appropriate to bring us back to Himself .
It’s up to the Church—not the denominational, brick-and-morter building that Christians visit on the weekend, but those who name the Name of Jesus Christ—to step up and do our part and pray for this country.
We are witnessing the devastating effects of what happens when the Church and its leaders take their focus off of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in order to conform to societal norms and enjoy the pleasures the world’s system has to offer. We commend those local churches and leaders who are not ashamed or afraid to promote Jesus Christ for fear of being called, “traditional” and “religious.”
As quiet as it’s kept, some local churches nationwide are going through changes that are causing them to permanently shut their doors. However, this is part of the shaking that God is allowing as a way of getting our attention so that we can get back to the business of doing His work. The Bible refers to this is in First Peter 4:17: For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? When we have repented and ask for God’s forgiveness, we can once again get back on track and preach the Gospel to others.
Even though our country is in turmoil and our moral order is crumbling, God, in His mercy, continues to keep the foundation of this country firm. And, at His appointed time, He will judge this nation fairly (Psalm 75:3-4).
We would do well to heed the words of 2 Chronicles 7:14: … if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
With that in mind, we ask that you join us as we humbly do the following:
1. Repent to God on behalf of the Church for not properly representing Him and His Son, Jesus Christ, to the world.
2. Repent on behalf of the United States of America for forsaking our heritage as a country that depended on God.
3. Ask God to have mercy upon His Church and America so that both will once again, call on His name.
4. Ask God to show us what He wants us to pray for so that He will once again, move upon our land in His power, glory and might.
