We are at war! Believers in Jesus Christ are under attack by demonic forces that attempt to get us off track and stop us from accomplishing the purpose and plans God has for our lives. It is imperative that we take the authority that we have in Jesus Christ and fight back! Elizabeth Cobbs, an associate with United in Christ Ministries of Canton, has written The Art of Spiritual Warfare: A Manual, a timely book that explains spiritual warfare and how Believers in Jesus Christ must receive Divine strategies and tactics to defeat Satan when he attacks.

“Our enemy, Satan, can and will subdue Christians who do not acknowledge that they are in a battle or believe fighting is necessary. Therefore, it is not possible for Christians to defeat Satan without engaging in spiritual warfare.
So, how do we know when we are involved in spiritual warfare? There are several ways of knowing, but the most telling signs are when situations in our lives spiral out of control, and we begin to feel overwhelmed, confused and frustrated and nothing that we do seems to succeed. In addition, demonic attacks have a tendency to occur especially when we are on the brink of change, whether it is a promotion, a call to ministry or any type of advancement that God has ordained for our lives. When we have experienced a spiritual victory or successfully completed a God-given assignment, it is not unusual for us to receive satanic backlash, particularly if we were attempting to advance God’s Kingdom or our assignment brought spiritual deliverance to others. These are the times to seek the Lord for insight into what is occurring in our lives.
While we cannot actually see warfare with Satan in the spirit realm, we can see the effects of this battle in our relationships, physical or mental health, finances, business endeavors and other areas of our lives. However, not every adversity we encounter is due to warfare. We must remember that sometimes conflicts occur because we live in a fallen world that is waiting for its ultimate redemption through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:19-22) and because of our own selfish desires that may lead us to sin (James 1:14-15).
We should anticipate spiritual warfare because 2 Timothy 3:12 says that those who want to live a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ will suffer persecution. Also, Jesus said in Matthew 10:34 that He did not come to bring peace, but a “sword” or division. J.C. Ryle writes in Expositional Thoughts on Matthew, that the object of Jesus Christ’s “first coming on earth was not to set up a millennial kingdom in which all would be of one mind, but to bring in the Gospel, which would lead to strifes and divisions.” Therefore, opposition in the life of a Believer in Christ is to be expected.
The Art of Spiritual Warfare: A Manual examines five factors involved in spiritual warfare, the spiritual weapons God has provided for His people, and spiritual tactics He gives that can be carried out in order to claim victory through Jesus Christ. The book concludes with spiritual warfare prayers that you can use as a pattern for developing your own prayers. Additionally, this book takes a Bible-based approach to spiritual warfare because the subject is of vital importance of all Believers in Jesus Christ.
It is my prayer that the information provided in The Art of Spiritual Warfare: A Manual will help you to “wage a good warfare” against Satan, as the Apostle Paul encourages followers of Christ to do in 1 Timothy 1:18, and to help you realize that you are already a conqueror through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:37).”
