We who believe in God and have a lifestyle that honors Jesus Christ are inheritors of His promises written in the Bible. Yet, in many instances, we have not seen the manifestation of these promises in our lives. We have discovered that is primarily because we have not actively declared, with our mouths, the promises God has given us.
Mark 11:23 states, Whoever says to this mountain be thou removed and cast into the sea and does not doubt in his heart but believes those things which he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. The mountain spoken of in this passage is not a physical mountain but a symbol that represents the circumstances and hindrances in our lives which prevent us from receiving the promises of God.
Job 22:28 says, You will decree a thing and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways. A decree represents a mandate given by a legal authority. God has given us the authority, through Jesus Christ, to speak His Word and bring life to the written promises that we are declaring. We may also speak words that God has given to us personally, whether they are promises pertaining to our family members, promises of healing or of getting a new job. Whatever promises God gave specifically to us, we can declare them until we see them come to pass in our lives.
We speak God’s Word with confidence because it is already established in the heavens. God Himself has declared that what He says will come to pass: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void (without producing any effect), but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11). When we enforce God’s word through verbal agreement, our words become the bridge linking Heaven and earth. Literally speaking, we bring Heaven to earth, and when Heaven is loosed in lives or in the earth at large, things have to change.
According to Ephesians 3:20, (God) is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. As we speak, we ourselves are the first to receive the message. The Word of God is then released into the atmosphere. Its effectiveness is guaranteed and is unstoppable because of the power of the Word.
We know there is creative power in God’s Word because the scripture states in Hebrews 11:3, By faith we understand that the worlds were framed (prepared) by the Word of God so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. Since we are created in His image, God expects us to be like Him in what we say, thereby, framing our own world around us with our words.
Proverbs 18:21 says, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Everywhere you turn, people are speaking negative, critical words of death. They are totally unaware of the consequences of their words. Much is done out of habits learned and taught in the homes. It is time for us to see our own personal lives transformed. It is time for God’s people to be fruitful, multiply, take dominion and fill the earth with His glory. God has given us an abundance of building blocks in the Word and we can choose to use them to speak life or not. Regardless of which we choose to do, the Word is clear. We will eat the fruit produced by our labors, our words.
Our declarations of faith will serve to beat back all that opposes the manifestation of God’s divine will and purpose for our lives. Romans 4:21 states, He (Abraham) was fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His Word to do what He had promised. It is essential that we hold God’s Words and His promises in the very forefront of our minds and thoughts so that they are a ready shield and an effective weapon against the arrows and tactics of the enemy.
As you begin decreeing your favorite Scriptures and prophetic words that you have received from the Lord, you will be announcing to evil forces in high places, “God’s Word has preeminence over what we see in the natural and demand its acquiesce to the spoken living Word.”
As you daily declare God’s Word, remain fully persuaded that God will do what He has said and that you will see breakthroughs in your life.
