“Our enemy, Satan, can and will subdue Christians who do not acknowledge that they are in a battle or believe fighting is necessary. Therefore, it is not possible for Christians to defeat Satan without engaging in spiritual warfare.

So, how do we know when we are involved in spiritual warfare? There are several ways of knowing, but the most telling signs are when situations in our lives spiral out of control, and we begin to feel overwhelmed, confused and frustrated and nothing that we do seems to succeed. In addition, demonic attacks have a tendency to occur especially when we are on the brink of change, whether it is a promotion, a call to ministry or any type of advancement that God has ordained for our lives. God’s Divine Calendar: Understanding the Biblical Months

In recent years, there has been an interest among Christians about God’s Biblical calendar and how it can be used as a guide for our spiritual growth and development. Seldom, when we are reading the Bible, do we connect biblical events with the months in which they occurred. Nor do we realize that the principles and blessings that God has established in the Bible are also for us today.

United in Christ Ministries of Canton has discovered the importance of these months and has published, God’s Divine Calendar: Understanding the Biblical Months. God Himself established a Biblical calendar for His people to recognize special celebrations and seasons that occur within the year.  The months—and the activities in each month—are found in the Bible, God’s Holy Word.

Although Christians are not obligated to observe biblical celebrations or holidays, such as Passover or Pentecost, we can learn how and why their spiritual significance is still important to us today. What’s more, each biblical month points to some aspect of Jesus Christ. God, in His infinite wisdom, has divinely designed these times to glorify His Son, and we can take advantage of the spiritual blessings available to us through Jesus Christ.

We, at United in Christ Ministries of Canton pray that through this book, you will develop a deeper appreciation for the Bible and God’s plan for His people. You will see God’s Hand consistently at work through His biblical calendar which He has established as yet another way to bless His people and magnify His Son, Jesus Christ.

Book Review: The Mystery of the Shemitah by Jonathan Cahn

Jonathan Cahn, author of the New York Times bestseller, The Harbinger, has released a sequel titled, The Mystery of the Shemitah.

If you read  The Harbinger,  which has sold over 1 million copies, you will know that the mystery of the Shemitah” (pronounced shmee-TAH) is one of the nine harbingers of judgment – and it appears that judgment is coming to America in 2015!

Shemitah is a Hebrew word that means, release or remission.  The Shemitah is a Sabbatical Year. The Bible records in Exodus 23:10-11 and Leviticus  25:20-22 the Lord commanding the Israelites that when they come into their land of promise, they must allow their land to rest every seven years. Also, Deuteronomy 15:1-6 further says that creditors were to release debtors from their obligations. There would be serious repercussions for Israel if they did not follow the Lord’s instructions – and there were!

According to Jonathan Cahn, a messianic rabbi, 2015 is a Shemitah or Sabbatical year.  In connecting the Shemitah to the U.S., Rabbi Cahn reveals that the country’s five greatest economic crashes that occurred in 1973, 1980,1987, 2001 and 2008, all have happened in Shemitah years. He also links the mystery of the Shemitah to major events in world history, including World War I, World War II, the Great Depression and the Fall of the towers at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

The next Shemitah year begins September 24, 2014. So, is the U.S. heading for an economic disaster in the coming year? While Rabbi Cahn writes that if the Shemitah manifests in judgment against America, then we can expect America’s economic structure to become unhinged in a way that we’ve never seen before.

Book Review: Our Family’s Daily Prayer Devotional

Untitled 3 pingOur Family’s Daily Prayer Devotional is designed for families who believe in the power of prayer and want to recite a simple prayer to God for daily praise, direction and protection before they depart from each other or travel.

Written by LaChelle P. Anderson, founder of First Fruit Publications, this 36 page e-Book tells the origin of the prayer challenge, encourages parents to teach their children how to pray, and discusses the benefits derived from prayer, including generational blessings:

God created man and woman to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth. By praying together as a family, you are fulfilling this commandment. You are planting or sowing Godly seeds in your children that will grown in their hearts forever, and their children will reap the fruits of this planting.

The author includes sample prayers and shows how to make a “family list” of names to read aloud during prayer time.

Book Review: Praying Circles Around Your Children

61IWN2SU1rLSaying that “parenting is tough” is an understatement. In addition to the constant concerns about job security and how to make ends meet in this shaky economy, parents are also concerned about raising their children and keeping them safe.

In his book, Praying Circles Around Your Children, Mark Batterson offers spiritual advice for parents to follow and continue to practice even when their kids become adults.

Batterson gives parents the “bad news” upfront: Parents are bound to make mistakes as they raise their kids. So, parents shouldn’t worry about being perfect. However, there’s one thing that parents cannot afford to make a mistake on or get wrong, and that one thing is prayer.

Batterson writes about five “prayer circles” that will help parents pray for, and through, their children. These circles include praying God’s promises, making prayer lists, creating prayer mantras, forming prayer circles and praying through the Bible. Batterson explains each one and how parents can carry them out.
